"Fiction Writer Warps Time and Space"
By Starfish
Be aware that this planner has technical flaws. First, it has only 4 weekly pages for each month. That makes only 48 weeks, but there are 52 weeks in a year! So maybe this works on some other planet, but not on Earth. Second, its month calendars are traditional with Sundays rather than Mondays at the leftmost position, which is to be expected. But the weekly pages have Mondays as the first day of the week! Lastly, every single word in this book is in all-caps, which makes it hard to read. There are plenty of tried-and-true planners (Franklin, Day Runner, etc.) that could have been referenced rather than reinventing the wheel (& getting it wrong). Little problems like this are what unnecessarily give users anguish, waste their time, and cause them to make errors, which are precisely the issues the book is supposed to alleviate. Maybe that's no big deal to you, but I'm better off figuring out my own system with a generic planner, so it was a complete waste of time & money. Working around such basic flaws is not worth the energy I could be putting into actually writing. Since I already filled out the dates incorrectly before realizing the inconsistency, I can't return it or sell it, so it's going in the recycling bin.

Only 10 pages of novel planning; the rest is standard WEEKLY planner pages with some writer quotes
By Cordelia L.
I've had this planner in my wishlist for a while because I've used some of the She's Novel worksheets. I guess that set my expectations a little high.
It was about $15 when I purchased it, which is cheaper than a DayTimer, but more than a spiral notebook day planner you'd pick up at Walmart. Quality-wise, it's pretty clearly self-published and print-on-demand, so the quality of the printing and paper is low. The paper is 20lb copy paper, which is fine for books, but awful for planners--pretty much any ink (including the printing) bleeds right through. Leave your Papermate Flairs and Sharpie Pens in the drawer; you will want to use pencil for this.
The cover has that weird rubbery texture that eventually wears off but still gets dirty very easily (I've had this for less than 24 hours and it's covered in friction smudges). If you have sensory perception issues, you will want to re-cover this immediately. And as a POD book, the printing is... bad. Everything is pixelated like it was designed in a page size different from the printed page size, and then printed with the Conserve Ink option selected. And while most planners range from pocket sized (3" x 7") to around 7" x 9"-ish (like Erin Condren), this planner is full letter size (8 1/2" x 11"). It's literally just printer pages bound together. For these reasons, I would probably reconsider purchasing a printed and bound copy and opt for a (much, much cheaper) PDF I could print and bind myself. Part of me wants to return the physical copy and do just that. This planner was a pretty big letdown.
In terms of design quality, the poor alignment of boxes and text in the planner is really obvious when you have it in your hands. It's clear that the headers and line boxes on each page were not built off a template and were probably drawn and typed by hand each time, because the white space varies a lot. This might not be a dealbreaker for some people, but as a designer this stands out to me as an indicator of a rushed job. The entire book is, as noted by other reviewers, set in one bold faced sans serif font (looks like League Gothic) and 80% of it is in all-caps, which other reviewers have noted. Again, could be a dealbreaker for some--I like it for the consistency, but it's not the most attractive or readable typeface.
You don't get much more than what you see in the preview, which is disappointing. And despite the size of the pages, the layout is such that you really don't actually have a lot of space to work with when writing. And of the 180 pages, only about 15 of them (including duplicates) have writing-centered content--and even that's stretching it, because some of those are just goals and marketing pages that could easily apply to any number of creative projects. There are some goal tracking pages and blank sketching/notes pages, and a few at-a-glance story pages (mostly viewable in the preview) that cover the absolute bare bones basics of a story (character sketches, basic outline, setting, summary) with the project goal tracker and marketing pages. There are two sets; one for its own story, presumably. In total there are only about 10 UNIQUE pages of author-oriented content in this planner. That's not really useful to me. I was hoping for more NOVEL PLANNING space rather than a regular weekly planner with writer quotes and wordcount reminders shoehorned in.
As others have noted, the structure of the actual weekly and monthly planner part is... less than ideal. The creator updated the file so that there are five weeks per month (60 total weeks). They're all undated, so the 5 weeks is more or less useful--some months will use them all, some will need more. Others noted that weeks start on Mondays and months start on Sundays, which could be a dealbreaker for you. I use an Erin Condren Hourly planner as my day-to-day planner, which is set up the same way, so I'm used to that mismatch. I prefer my weeks to have the weekends lumped together.
It is weird and misleading that the cover says this is a daily planner, but it is really a weekly planner. There are no daily pages (as would be obvious from the product description saying it's only 180 pages). As noted before, despite the size of the pages there's not even that much room to work in each day's space. You get three lines across the entire page per weekday and then four lines across half the page for each weekend day, which is not ideal planning space for most writers--I know I'm not the only one holding down a day job and doing most of my writing on weekends, so I'd need a lot more space on those Sunday than I would on a Tuesday.
Each week has a personal, work, and project to-do list, so it's trying to mimic traditional planners (or even replace your traditional planner). I am a planner girl, so I could go on about how much I would not use this layout (inconsistent alignment, lack of writing-focused content, no dates so some weeks will be wasted, very cluttered). This would never replace my current planner.
In summary: considering the wealth of resources and worksheets on the creator's website, I am really disappointed in the lack of writing-focused pages in this planner. I would gladly pay $15 for a professionally laid-out, bound, and printed workbook that included the resources from the creator's website. But this planner is a wasted opportunity. It needs a lot more workspace for actual project brainstorming, tracking, and planning than it provides in order to count as a "novel planner."

A great planner for all writers and writing styles.
By Cati K
This planner is perfect for every level of writing. Im in love with the layout of the whole book and the little quotes of motivation she puts on several of the pages. She gives detailed information on how to use the different sections which is very helpful. A big plus for me is that it is a standard paper size planner. It's 8.5 x 11!
The project section is great! It's built for 2 story ideas and it's broken down into a section about your story/idea, characters (6 per story idea), your goals and your marketing notes. This section I find is the most helpful when it comes to what I need it for. Though I have already started my project I have entered all my info in these spots and its a perfect on the go reminder for when I am out and about and have an idea pop in my head. Which leads me to the calendar section. There is a page for each month (month view and 1 years worth) you fill in the months and days so you can start whenever. Followed by a weekly section. (4 weeks per month) and this is where you can jot down any ideas or notes that you might think of. The calendar section is great for if you are keeping track of how much you are writing and/or tracking yourself to your weekly/monthly goal.
What's also great about this is the fact that you don't really need a separate personal planner. You can keep all your personal and writing stuff all in the same book which is awesome! The last section in the book is for brainstorming and research. It has a page for you to write in some future story ideas. It has a to read section! This is perfect for when a friend or someone recommends a book, you can plug it in here! The very last page includes all the ways you can contact her. Which is cool. She really has great ideas and advice. I was so excited when she said she was making this. I had to buy it! I recommend it to all who write. Whatever it may be that you write. Newbies to People who have been writing for years! Even if you are just thinking about writing, get this planner. I bet it will spark some amazing ideas and get you to writing.
