This book gives you access to all you need to know--from investing concepts to investing experts "private" vocabulary--to be a smart investor in a global economy, which resembles a lemonade stand much more than any of the pundits want us to know. Leveraging and hedging, stock price versus value, become clear in this translation of expert-speak to human-speak. "Lessons" will give you the knowledge and language you need to have the tools for life long financial success. And it's wonderfully written, filled with knowledge, brilliance, insight, and...humor. You'll refer to it again and again. This is truly a gift that will leave you richer in insight and understanding, as well as financially. There is always a risk attendant with investment, but this is a win-win deal.

Fantastic job

I'm already pretty familiar with investing principles and terms, but I gave Lessons from the Lemonade Stand a whirl on the recommendation of a friend.
The author does an unsually fantastic job of finding just the right language--just the right allusions, analogies, quotes and turns of phrase-- to explain the seemingly complicated fundamentals of investing. It's clear that he not only knows exactly how to articulate it in a way that is wholly accessible.
For an elegant, pragmatic, and actionable illustration of how investing game works, there is no better option than Lessons from the Lemonade Stand. Highly recommend!

I was looking for a straight-forward introduction to investing, something I knew nothing about except that I should probably be doing it. A friend at NYU recommended this professor's new book.
Mr. Berman has laid it out in a fantastically clear fashion - building step by step, chapter by chapter. The concepts were easy to grasp and I didn't feel like I was being "talked down to", despite the simplistic Lemonade Stand analogy. If you are looking to dive into investing, this is a great place to start. I cannot emphasize enough how foreign this all was to me when I began and how much more comfortable I feel now.
