A Little Weird, by JB McDonald

Kel has seen his share of weird throughout his life, but when London asks him to sub for her and her boyfriend, that tops the list. He isn't gay. He isn't bi. He definitely isn't submissive. And with an underlying case of post-traumatic stress disorder from years in the military, anything BDSM just sounds dangerous.

But he also doesn't want to see his friends hurt, and he's positive that will happen if they get together with strangers from the Internet. London plays things too close to the vest for him to get a good enough read on her, but Kel trusts Ty, even if he doesn't think he'll enjoy turning over control. It'll be a one-off, it'll be a little weird, and they'll all go back to normal.

He's not sure what to do when a little weird turns out to be something he wants.

Great read
By Julie Hutchens
This is the best menage story I've read. It wasn't just some hot sex scenes with some joiner words in the middle and two dimensional characters. There was development and tension, and believable insecurities in the characters. Sex scenes were really hot and felt realistic eg not having so much sex inside of a night they should really be consulting medical assistance. A full length story without the abrupt serial cut off to the story. There is definitely an opening for a sequel which I would really love to see written.

Very enjoyable and a little bit quirky
By V. Jones
To be completely and utterly honest, I bought this book for the sexy threesome. No other reason. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by the vivid, well-rounded characters and the amount of thought put into the dynamics of the relationships.

The book starts with Kel, a bouncer/cook, who is invited to have submissive sex with the odd but lovable London and the smart, insightful Tyrone. Yes, it's a gratuitous opening for a gratuitous concept, but it works because London *is* odd and her blunt request fits in with her slightly awkward demeanor. She works to drive the plot forward on several occasions because she doesn't have any embarrassment about declaring what she wants, and there's something compelling about a character who just doesn't have that filter in place.

Kel is an interesting choice for a submissive character. He's physically the most powerful of the three and spends a great deal of the book acting as a protector , which neither London nor Tyr has any issue with. (In fact, judging from how they react on one particular occasion, they're rather turned on by it). This allows for a rather different exploration of submission, in which enjoyment doesn't come from an innate character trait, but from the relief of turning over control to someone else for a while. It demonstrates very safe, sane and consensual practices and makes a very clear divide between how the characters behave in a scene and how they relate to each other in general.

Tyr acts as an anchor for the other two, when Kel's uncertainties and London's oddities threaten to send them off-course. He's a very likable character, though I would have enjoyed seeing a few more of his flaws, the same way we do the other two. As a dom, he works perfectly, with his reassuring control and his absolute respect for limits. You can understand why Kel feels safe enough to put his trust into him (something I've had difficulty believing with certain other books).

This isn't hardcore bondage, which I think is the right choice, considering the characters. It's still smoking hot and proof that an imaginative author doesn't need to go overboard with the whips and handcuffs to make a book sexy. It's probably the only book of its genre that I wouldn't be horrifically embarrassed to recommend to someone else. Very enjoyable, and like London herself, a little bit quirky.

This was recommended to me by a friend
By Becca
This was recommended to me by a friend. I must say that I did not expect to like this as much as I did. Comparatively, this is pretty vanilla for what I normally like. But that doesn't mean I enjoyed it any less! I fell in love with Kel easily, and the other characters not too long after!

I really enjoyed finding out the history of the characters! I didn't know what to expect going into this, and so discovering a bit more about each character was great!

I definitely recommend this. It was worth the read!
